Australian Open Day 2 : Matches to watch out


Day two of the Australian Open promises to be as exciting as Day one. Former Champion Maria Sharapova faces her first test against Maria Tatjana of Germany. Another former champion Angelique Kerber opens her campaign on Day two. Petra Kvitova is set to lock horns with Andrea Petkovic and this match promises to be a cracker. World number one Simona Halep will be hoping to make a good start as well.

The men’s side of the draw though is loaded with some mouth-watering contests. Juan Martin del Potro vs Francis Tiafoe is touted to be the match of the day. It will not be an easy match for the Argentinian. Roger Federer starts his title defense against Slovanian Aljaz Bedene. There will be a lot of interest in Tomas Berdych’s match against local teenage sensation Alex de Minaur, who captured the imagination of everyone with his impressive tennis at Brisbane and Sydney. Six time Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic, who is making a comeback after his elbow injury, faces a tough test in his first round against Donald Young.
